The
Grape Day Festival and Parade has deep roots in Escondido. Taking
place each year on the Saturday after Labor Day, Grape Day is
a free community celebration of our community's heritage. The
festival begins at 9.30am and runs until 5pm in Grape Day Park
(321 N. Broadway). The short, whimsical parade on Grand Avenue
begins at Escondido Blvd at 9.30am and marches up to Juniper.
The parade features equestrians, floats, marching bands, and
walking groups. The 2008 theme is The Grape Days of Classic Television.
Join
us for the centennial of the first Grape Day on Saturday, September
6, 2008! Grape Day
is fun for the whole family. Nearly 100 vendors, with an emphasis
on arts and crafts, fill Grape Day Park. The entertainment stage
showcases local talent from 11am until 5pm. Kids love the 4H
petting zoo, rides, and going across the Boy Scouts' rope bridge.
Feel the squish between your toes when
you stomp grapes. Watch demonstrations including painting and
blacksmithing. Treat yourself to a piece of grape pie and work
on a giant 8' x 8' puzzle. Tour all the buildings at the Escondido History Center and enjoy free grapes, courtesy of Jimbo's Naturally!
